Start times and the qualifying week sessions for 2027 hadn’t been published when we checked (October 2026). As a guide, in 2026 qualifying ran in the daytime and evening, with evening sessions from 6pm, and races usually started late morning.

What’s changed from 2026

The 2027 schedule is quite different from the one fans got used to (Manx Radio (opens in a new tab)):

  • The Superbike TT opens the racing on the first Saturday. In 2026 it ran on the Sunday.
  • One Superstock race, not two.
  • Sportbike races go up to four laps, from three in 2026.
  • Sidecars are back. The class was suspended for the rest of TT 2026 after two serious crashes in qualifying.
  • The Senior TT isn’t the finale. It moves to the Friday Bank Holiday, and Sidecar and Sportbike races close the week on Saturday 12 June.

That makes nine races in 2027. For the record, TT 2026 ran from 25 May to 6 June, and the weather forced the schedule to be rearranged during race week.

Road closures

The course is closed by law for every session. The official closure notice for 2027, with the maximum closure times for each day, hadn’t been published when we checked in October 2026. For comparison, in 2026:

  • On race days the course could close from 10am until no later than 9.30pm. On the Sunday race day the window was 12.30pm to 6.30pm.
  • Evening qualifying closures started at 6pm.
  • The Mountain Road was one-way (Ramsey Hairpin to Creg-ny-Baa) from 4.30pm on Friday 22 May to 9.30am on Tuesday 9 June. See riding the TT course.

These are maximums, and roads often reopen earlier (2026 notice, PDF (opens in a new tab)). Our first-timer’s guide explains how crossing points and the Roads Open car work.

Isle of Man road racing dates 2027

The TT isn’t the only time the island closes its roads to race. Here’s every 2027 road race meeting, in date order. The non-racing events are on what’s on.

Looking further ahead, the organisers have pencilled in TT 2028 for Monday 29 May to Saturday 10 June 2028. Those dates are provisional (iomttraces.com (opens in a new tab)).

The Pre-TT Classic finishes the day before TT 2027 qualifying begins, so it’s easy to add to a TT trip. It’s held on the Billown Course around Castletown, a shorter and tighter circuit than the Mountain Course. The Southern 100 runs there in July.

The August racing on the Mountain Course is the Manx Grand Prix, the amateur-and-newcomer event run by the Manx Motor Cycle Club, alongside the Classic TT for historic machines. You’ll still see the August fortnight called the Festival of Motorcycling. In 2026 they ran together from 16 to 28 August. The Manx Grand Prix hadn’t announced its 2027 dates when we checked in October 2026; our Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT guide will have them first.
